Special Projects Coordinator

Contract Position

Through the generosity of the National Literacy Secretariat, Laubach Literacy New Brunswick will be hiring a Special Projects Coordinator to support the work of the Executive Committee in completing several literacy-related projects receiving federal funding. This will be an eight-month contract position beginning November 12, 2001. There is the possibility of extending the appointment if adequate funding becomes available.

Job Description

  1. Research and compile a Life Skills Handbook for use by Laubach Literacy New Brunswick and CASP students.
  2. Prepare a Policy and Procedures Guide for Laubach Literacy New Brunswick.
  3. Support the LLNB Executive Committee in carrying out the Strategic Planning Process.
  4. Jointly, with the LLNB Executive Committee, oversee all National Literacy Secretariat projects to ensure timely and successful results.
  5. Assist the LLNB Executive Committee with other duties as required.

Candidates for the Special Projects Coordinator position shall have the following minimum qualifications:

  • research experience
  • superior writing skills
  • desktop printing expertise
  • background in adult education models and practices
  • public speaking, presentation and group facilitation skills
  • knowledge of issues related to adult literacy
  • strong communication and reporting skills
  • proficiency in the English language
  • capable of working with a minimum of supervision
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • capable of taking direction
  • in possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle for use on LLNB business
  • a home office equipped with a personal computer, printer and scanner

The successful candidate will work from his/her home office. Flexibility will be critical to allow for evening and weekend work and activities. The ability to travel throughout the province will also be essential. Previous experience in writing educational materials would be considered a definite asset.
